Endodontics is concerned about the restoration of teeth at an advanced stage of deterioration, where the pulp or nerve is already affected, generating high-intensity toothaches.
Generally, in these cases, the best solution is to remove the pulp, clean the root canal and, fill the canal with inert material and sealant. This procedure, commonly known as "root canal treatment" is only carried out once all other possibilities, when restoration of the tooth is not possible anymore.
At Nova Dentismed we use dental surgical microscopes, an indispensable technology in the most complex endodontic treatments, allowing a more complete and detailed view, diagnosis and treatment of our patients.
A devitalized tooth can last for many years, if not a lifetime, as long as it is properly treated and cared for.
The most typical situations are:
- Extensive caries that already cause toothache;
- Teeth already in an advanced stage of deterioration due to the existence of caries, requiring reconstruction;
- Fractured restoration to be replaced by a fixed dental crown.
